Greetings!

Thank you for your interest in the Transformative Justice Practitioner Program (TJPP) Community Edition Curriculum Guide. We are excited that you have a desire to deepen your understanding of transformative justice within a learning community context and we are happy we can be supportive of this endeavor.

With the sunsetting of Unity Circles we want to make the TJPP curriculum available to those seeking to engage in these practices and values in their immediate communities. At the same time, we hold some boundaries about how it is utilized. Before diving into this resource, we want to make sure your intentions for using this guide are in alignment with the purpose of its creation. Below are some important distinctions for what TJPP is and is not:

TJPP is a learning experience designed to…

  • Support personal development and healing

  • Build capacity within communities to cultivate care and address harm outside of carceral systems

  • Be applied within one’s own life and immediate communities (i.e direct relationships of trust and connection)

  • Be holistically integrated

  • Be utilized within a community context (e.g. housemates, faith based organization, political group, collective, friend pod, etc.)

TJPP is NOT:

  • A professional development opportunity (i.e. not designed to be used in professional settings, especially within institutions)

  • Institutionally focused

  • A set of skills and knowledge to be extracted for your own paid facilitation purposes/consulting

Given the purpose of TJPP, please only engage in this resource if you intend to bring people together to learn the content and skill sets with you as part of your personal journey and commitment to transformative justice. Please do not extract elements of this resource for your paid consulting gigs or for personal profit. We recognize that we live under the real and harmful realities of capitalism that require us to navigate survival in ways that often compromise our values. At the same time, we ask that this resource be honored as a collectively developed labor of love that exists outside of transactional relationships and dynamics. Please contact unitycircleslegacy@gmail.com if you have any questions or clarification needs about this agreement.

I have read over this statement and agree to honor and uphold the values and boundaries identified above. I recognize that these values and boundaries are important to being in integrity with Unity Circles.
